The Little Things #2

blue sky

The last couple of weeks have been packed with trawling SpareRoom and viewing houses which is right up there with job-hunting on my list of things I hate doing. It has also been tragic few weeks for the world, and it’s hard to know how to be positive in times like this.

I’m trying to focus on some of the good things and these are some of the small things that having bringing moments of brightness to my days.

Summer. I don’t want to jinx it, but I think it’s finally here. There has been sunshine and hot weather this week and I have been soaking it up at every opportunity (there aren’t many when you work in an office, unfortunately!) And yes, it has been the kind of hot where and can’t really sleep and make-up just slides off your face, but I’ll take that over being cold any day.

Trying new recipes. I have a love-hate relationship with cooking. In other words, I love food but I prefer someone else to prepare it for me! I’m trying to make more of an effort at the moment and finding I actually enjoy cooking when I have the time.

Reading about women doing amazing things, whether they are poets, athletes or designers.

Celebrating friends’ birthdays. Most of my friends have birthdays that fall between June and August and I love celebrating how awesome they are. I am a huge fan of birthdays and love picking out the perfect gifts for people and, of course, eating my body weight in cake!

Open air cinema. This week I’m continuing my summer tradition of going to an open air cinema. It combines two of my favourite things – picnics and films – and I just love the atmosphere. Here’s hoping the weather holds out and my hay fever doesn’t make sitting in a field too unbearable!

This post about what it’s really like to live in Cornwall made me smile. I miss living there, especially during summer. Also, this post on living by the sea.

Dear everyone… we are not alone. A few words of encouragement in difficult times.

  • I’ve always wanted to go to an open air cinema! I’ll have to look around my town and see if it’s available!
